What to Expect for your
Newborn Photography Session
Welcoming a new baby into your family is one of life’s most meaningful moments. My goal is to create a calm, relaxed experience where you can simply enjoy your baby while beautiful memories are preserved.
Newborn sessions with Annabelle Levy Photography are designed to feel peaceful and unhurried, allowing plenty of time for feeding, soothing, and capturing the tiny details that make this stage so special.
Here is what you can expect throughout the process.
Booking Your Newborn Session
Newborn sessions are best reserved during pregnancy, ideally during your second trimester. Because babies rarely arrive exactly on their due date, your session is scheduled based on your estimated due date rather than a fixed calendar day.
Once your baby arrives, you simply reach out within the first day or two so we can confirm the exact session date.
To ensure every family receives a relaxed and personalized experience, I accept a limited number of newborn sessions each month.
The Best Age for Newborn Photos
Newborn sessions typically take place between 5 and 10 days after birth, with sessions still possible up to around 14 days old.
During this time babies tend to:
• sleep deeply
• curl naturally into cozy poses
• remain calm when gently positioned
This allows us to capture the soft, peaceful newborn portraits that parents love.
Preparing for Your Session
Before your session, you will receive helpful guidance on how to prepare.
This includes:
• what to wear for family portraits
• how to prepare older siblings
• what to bring to your session
• how to help baby stay comfortable and sleepy
Most of the styling elements used during your session are provided, including wraps, blankets, and simple props.
During Your Session
Newborn sessions are intentionally slow and relaxed. Sessions typically last 1.5 to 2 hours, allowing time for feeding breaks, soothing, and gentle transitions between poses.
Your baby’s comfort and safety always come first. I follow baby’s cues throughout the session and never rush the process.
Parents are welcome to sit back, relax, and enjoy watching their little one being photographed.
Many families tell me the session becomes a peaceful moment to slow down and soak in those early newborn days.
Siblings and Family Photos
Siblings are always welcome and encouraged to participate in newborn sessions.
Sibling and family portraits are usually photographed early in the session so little ones can relax afterward.
Children are gently guided throughout the session in a relaxed and playful way so their natural connection with their new baby shines through.
Safety Is Always the Priority
Your baby’s safety is the most important part of every newborn session.
Every pose is carefully guided and baby is always supported. Sessions are baby-led, meaning we follow your baby’s comfort level at all times.
Years of experience working with infants allow me to create beautiful images while maintaining a calm and safe environment.
After Your Session
After your session, your images will be carefully edited to create the soft, timeless look that defines Annabelle Levy Photography.
Your gallery will be delivered for you to view and select your favorite images.
Many families choose to preserve their photographs through albums and framed artwork so these memories can be enjoyed for generations.
Preserving the First Days of Your Baby’s Story
The newborn stage passes so quickly. Tiny fingers, sleepy stretches, and the quiet connection between parents and their new baby change in the blink of an eye.
